Tennis Nut Privacy Policy
Welcome to Tennis Nut (“the App”). This policy explains how the developer of the App (“we”) collects, uses, stores and shares your personal data. Please read it before using the App. By downloading, installing or using the App you confirm that you have read, understood and agree to this policy.
1. What we collect
We collect only what is necessary to run the App:
1.1 Account and profile
- From signing in with email, Apple ID or Google: your email address, name, avatar and the provider’s identifier (Apple’s sub, Google’s user ID). If you use Apple’s Hide My Email, we receive only the relay address Apple gives us, never your real address.
- What you enter in your profile: display name, gender, dominant hand, playing level and region.
1.2 Activity
- Practice logs, match records, video links and written feedback you create.
- Your conversations with coaches and other players.
- Court reviews and condition reports you submit.
- Actions such as adding friends, favouriting courts and spending nuts.
1.3 Location
- With your permission, the App uses your GPS position while you are using Discovery or logging a practice, in order to show nearby courts, calculate Court Heat and pre-fill the closest court.
- You can turn this off at any time in Settings → Tennis Nut → Location on iPhone.
1.4 Camera and photo library
- With your permission, the App uses the camera to scan QR codes (adding friends) and to take photos for a consultation, and reads your photo library when you attach an image or video to one.
- We never activate the camera or read the library unless you ask us to.
1.5 Push notification token
- To deliver notifications (a coach’s reply, a message from a friend), the App obtains a device push token through Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM).
1.6 Device and technical information
- To improve the service and diagnose problems, the App may collect your device model, OS version, language setting, app version and crash reports.
1.7 Sharing court activity (can be turned off)
- When you save a practice or match at a court with GPS present, the App creates a check-in that counts towards that court’s “N playing” figure for the following three hours — ananonymous count. Other users see only the number, never who you are.
- You can turn this off at any time under Settings → Privacy → Share my court activity. Once off, you are excluded from the count entirely.
- Notifications about a friend arriving at the same court run on a separate path, trigger only between mutual friends, and are unrelated to that count.
We do not collect: contacts, text messages, health data, your Apple ID password or card details.
2. How we use your data
- Running the service: authentication, storing your records, friend interactions, court suggestions and matching you with a coach.
- Personalisation: using your location and records to calculate Court Heat and suggest relevant courts and content.
- Messages and notifications: sending the notifications you have opted into, and service messages.
- Improvement and debugging: analysing usage, fixing bugs, and preventing abuse and fraud.
- Legal compliance: retaining or disclosing data where required by law or a judicial authority.
3. What we will not do
- We do not sell your personal data to third parties.
- We do not use your conversations, videos or location data for advertising.
- We do not give your personal data to other users without your consent, apart from what you choose to make public in the App (court reviews, display name).
4. Third-party service providers
The App relies on the services below. Each handles your data under its own privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose | Privacy policy |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Database and authentication backend | supabase.com/privacy |
| Google Firebase | Push notifications (FCM) and crash reporting | firebase.google.com/support/privacy |
| Sign in with Apple | Sign in with Apple | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Google Sign-In | Sign in with Google | policies.google.com/privacy |
| Mapbox | Court map rendering and geo services | mapbox.com/legal/privacy |
| Resend | System email (sign-in links, notifications) | resend.com/legal/privacy-policy |
| Apple App Store | iOS distribution and crash reporting | apple.com/legal/privacy |
| Google Play | Android distribution (including the tester list) and crash reporting | policies.google.com/privacy |
We send these providers the minimum data needed for those purposes.
5. Where data is stored, and for how long
- Your data is stored on servers hosted by Supabase, currently in the Asia-Pacific region.
- You can delete your account yourself at any time under Settings → Account → Delete account permanently. Your personal data and related records are removed immediately, and third-party identifiers such as Apple’s relay email are unlinked at the same time.
- Practice and match records are kept until you delete them.
- Conversations, images and video in a consultation are kept until you delete your account; they remain readable in the App after the case closes.
- Data we are legally required to keep, such as transaction records, is retained for the period the law requires.
6. Your rights
You may exercise the following rights at any time, in the App or by writing to us:
- Access: request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: update or correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: delete your account yourself under Settings → Account → Delete account permanently. Some anonymised statistics, such as a court’s total visit count, may remain but can no longer be linked to you.
- Withdrawal: revoke permissions you previously granted (location, camera, photo library, notifications).
- Portability: request a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
7. Children’s privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you are a minor, please use the App with the consent of a parent or legal guardian. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately.
8. International transfers
Our main database is in the Asia-Pacific region and push delivery is provided by Google Firebase, whose data centres may be located in the United States and elsewhere, so your data may be transferred across borders to those regions. We take reasonable measures to keep those transfers secure.
9. Security
- All traffic between the App and our servers is encrypted with HTTPS / TLS.
- Account passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text.
- Push and session tokens are protected by the operating system’s Keychain / secure storage.
- Even so, no networked system can be guaranteed completely secure. In the event of a significant breach we will notify affected users as required by law.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be announced in the App or by email; continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy. We suggest revisiting this page occasionally.
11. Contact us
If you have questions or comments about this policy, or wish to exercise any of the rights above, please contact us:
